Hace 4 días · Henry Stafford was born on 4 September 1455, the son of Humphrey Stafford, Earl of Stafford, and Margaret Beaufort. His father, Humphrey Stafford had been a Lancastrian supporter in the early stages of the Wars of the Roses and had died in 1458 of wounds acquired at the First Battle of St Albans, whilst fighting for the cause of King Henry VI .
Henry Stafford (known as Harry) was born in 1455, his father being Humphrey Stafford, son and heir to Humphrey Stafford, 1st Duke of Buckingham. His mother was Margaret Beaufort, daughter of Edmond Beaufort and cousin of Margaret Beaufort , mother of Henry VII .
Henry Stafford, born c.1479, was the younger of two sons of Henry Stafford, 2nd Duke of Buckingham, and Lady Catherine Woodville, the daughter of Richard Woodville, 1st Earl Rivers, by Jacquetta of Luxembourg, daughter of Pierre de Luxembourg, Count of St. Pol, and was thus a nephew of Elizabeth Woodville and King Edward IV.
Now fourteen, Margaret married her second cousin, Sir Henry Stafford and went to live at Woking Palace. Meanwhile, the care of her child Henry Tudor fell to his uncle Jasper Tudor, who granted Margaret and her husband the opportunity to visit him at Pembroke Castle.
She married Sir Henry Stafford (c. 1425 –1471), the second son of Humphrey Stafford, 1st Duke of Buckingham, on 3 January 1458, at the age of fourteen. A dispensation for the marriage was necessary because Margaret and Stafford were second cousins; it was granted on 6 April 1457.

25 de jun. de 2024 · Their son Henry was born in January 1457, three months after Tudor’s death. A second marriage, to Sir Henry Stafford (from c. 1464 to 1471), was childless. After Stafford’s death and sometime before 1473, she wed Thomas, Lord Stanley (afterward 1st Earl of Derby), who in 1485 helped her son Henry Tudor obtain the throne.
