Life. Joan was born around 1378 to John II, Count of Auvergne and Boulogne and his wife Aliénor de Comminges. Joan's grandfather, John I, had been an uncle of Queen Joanna of France, a previous heiress to Auvergne and Boulogne; John inherited the counties when his great-nephew, Joanna's son from a previous marriage, Philip of Burgundy, died without issue.
8 de jun. de 2017 · John III, Count of Auvergne John III of Auvergne (1467 – 28 March 1501), Count of Auvergne, Count of Boulogne, Count de Lauraguais, was the son of Bertrand VI of Auvergne and Louise de la Trémoille (1432 – 10 April 1474), Dame de Boussac, the daughter of Georges de la Trémoille.
He married Joan I, Countess of Auvergne and Boulogne, in c. 1338. In 1340, Philip and his father defended the city of Saint-Omer against the assaults of Robert III of Artois. In 1346, he participated in the siege of Aiguillon, led by John, Duke of Normandy. It was during this siege that Philip died, after falling from his horse.
