The High School of Music & Art was founded by Mayor Fiorello H. LaGuardia in 1936. He wanted to establish a public school in which students could hone their talents in music, art and the performing arts. In 1948, a similar institution – the High School of Performing Arts – was created in an effort to harness students' talents in dance.
We are one of the largest high schools in New York State and the second-largest high school in Manhattan. Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts (03M485) - NYC MySchools MySchools.nyc is dedicated to our friend and colleague, Dave Yang, who spearheaded the creation of this enrollment platform, and who was a force for change and progress at NYC DOE.

LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts has a long history of producing many of the most notable artists.
