From 1920 to 1924, Poelzig directed the architectural studies at the Berlin Kunstakademie, thereafter becoming professor at the Technische Hochschule of Charlottenburg, a post he held until 1933. His appointment in 1933 as head of the Associated State Schools of Architecture, Free, and Applied Arts incited objections by the Nazi Kampfbund, forcing him to resign.
