Most of the songs for the album were written in one night, after Chan Marshall, otherwise know as Cat Power had had an hallucinatory nightmare in 1997. She was so frightened that she went and picked up her guitar, just to distract herself from the nightmareish visions, and she started to write songs. These songs.
