In fact, members of the Kartli (including Mukhranian progeny of King Vakhtang V), Kakheti, and Imereti branches of the Bagrationi dynasty all bore the title of batonishvili in Georgia and had descendants living in Russia in the 19th century.
Vakhtang the Good (Georgian: ვახტანგ კარგი) (1738 or 1742 – 1 February, 1756 or 1760) was a Georgian royal prince (batonishvili) of the Bagrationi dynasty. He was the first child and the eldest son of Heraclius II, then-prince of Kakheti, born of his first marriage to Ketevan née Orbeliani or, according to more recent research, Ketevan née Pkheidze.

The ancient Georgian law addresses some similar crimes against property, robbery, piracy, and theft. In all three cases, property was appropriated. Unlike robbery and piracy, theft was not an overt act of violence.
