Hace 4 días · About 1573 Edward Seymour, earl of Hertford (d. 1621), claimed Little Langford manor as an escheat on the grounds that he was a successor of the earls of Salisbury as lord of Amesbury manor, to which the overlordship of Little Langford manor had been attached.
Hace 3 días · Almost immediately the property was granted to Edward Seymour, earl of Hertford and later duke of Somerset. (fn. 37) After his execution and attainder in 1552 his estates were forfeited, but were restored to his son Edward (cr. earl of Hertford 1559, d. 1621) in 1554.
Hace 6 días · After the Protector's execution in 1552 Collingbourne passed to his son Edward Seymour, then a minor. It was confirmed to Edward, by then created earl of Hertford, in 1581. Edward was succeeded in 1621 by his grandson William, who was restored as duke of Somerset in 1660, a month before he died without surviving issue.
