Early life. Blount was the daughter of Sir John Blount and Catherine Pershall, of Shropshire . Not much is known about Elizabeth Blount's early years, not even her year of birth. She became a lady-in-waiting (a type of personal helper) to Queen Catherine of Aragon. She became King Henry's lover during 1514 or 1515.

Born around 1498 in the sleepy county of Shropshire, her father sir John Blount was very cozy with King Henry VIII, and even accompanied him on campaign in France.

Elizabeth Blount was born around 1500 in Kinlet in Shropshire, to John Blount of Kinlet and his wife Katherine, daughter of Sir Hugh Pershall of Knightley. There is some confusion as to whether she was her parent’s first child, but it is likely that she was their eldest daughter.
Sections. Elizabeth (Bessie) Blount, the second daughter of John Blount (1484–1531) and his wife, Katherine Peshall Blount (1483–1540), was born in about 1500. The couple had married at an early age, her mother was only ten at the time. In 1501, Prince Arthur and Catherine of Aragon set up their own court in Ludlow.
