10 de abr. de 2024 · Dive Brief: Faced with pending insolvency, Goddard College will close permanently at the end of its current semester, the institution announced Tuesday. The college has struck a teach-out agreement with Arizona-based Prescott College so students can finish their degrees and “continue Goddard’s legacy of progressive education and experimental pedagogy,” it said in the announcement.
A group of stakeholders from Goddard College–including leadership from the faculty union, staff union, alumni, and student body–have joined forces to transform the college into a cooperatively run institution. We intend to renew Goddard’s place in higher education as an innovative college in progressive education for the 21st century.
10 de abr. de 2024 · Goddard currently has 220 students, compared with more than 1,900 in the early 1970s, the board said. “The closure of Goddard College is a significant loss for students in search of an alternative, progressive higher education,” board chair Mark Jones said in a statement. "The decision to close Goddard College was not made easily or quickly.
The Board of Directors for Goddard College have made the difficult decision to close the college at the end of the 2024 Spring term. Current Goddard students will have the opportunity to complete their degrees at the same tuition rate through a teach-out with like-minded institution, Prescott College.
