Eric Close nació en el año 1967 en Staten Island, New York, Estados Unidos. El mayor de 3 hermanos, durante su infancia vivió en Indiana, luego en Michigan y finalmente en San Diego. Se graduó en el año 1989 con un título en Comunicaciones en la Universidad del Sur de California , en donde se convirtió en miembro de la Fraternidad Sigma Chi.
