On screen, he often played people who are not at all exceptional, but become heroes because of their common sense, generosity and good judgement.
John Mills débute au théâtre à la fin des années 1920 et y joue régulièrement dans son pays natal. Il se produit également à Broadway ( New York ), dans deux pièces , en 1961 et 1987 . Au cinéma ( britannique principalement), il apparaît de 1932 à 2003 , notamment dans plusieurs films de David Lean (dont La Fille de Ryan en 1970 qui lui vaut un Oscar ).
Sir John Mills CBE (born Lewis Ernest Watts Mills; 22 February 1908 – 23 April 2005) was a British actor. [1] He was born in North Elmham, Norfolk. His sister was entertainer Annette Mills (1894–1955). He was married to actress Aileen Raymond (1910-2005) from 1927 until they divorced in 1941.
