Wyatt Earp, legendary frontiersman of the American West who was perhaps best known for his involvement in the gunfight with an outlaw gang at the O.K. Corral (1881). He was established as a legend in part by a 1931 biography with which he assisted, though many of the claims were exaggerated or untrue.
