A member of the Seymour family headed by the Duke of Somerset, Hertford was the eldest son of Francis Seymour-Conway, 1st Marquess of Hertford, and Lady Isabella Fitzroy, daughter of Charles FitzRoy, 2nd Duke of Grafton, born on 12 January 1743 in London. He was the elder brother of Lord Robert Seymour and Lord Hugh Seymour.

Conway, Francis (Ingram) Seymour- (1743–1822), chief secretary for Ireland, Viscount Beauchamp , and 2nd marquess of Hertford , was born 12 February 1743 in London, eldest son of Francis Seymour-Conway (qv), later 1st marquess of Hertford, and Isabella Seymour-Conway (née Fitzroy); he was styled Viscount Beauchamp from 1750 until 1793.

  6. Hon. Anne Seymour-Conway (d. 24 March 1774), married John Harris on 10 March 1755 and had issue. Hon. Charles Seymour-Conway, died young. Lord Conway died in February 1732 in Lisburn, aged 52, and was succeeded by his eldest son by his third wife, Francis Seymour-Conway, who was created Earl of Hertford in 1750 and Marquess of Hertford in 1793.
