John Jay (1745–1829), natural do Estado de Nova York, foi um patriota, estadista, diplomata e um dos fundadores da América que serviu no início do governo dos Estados Unidos em muitas funções. In 1783, Jay negotiated and signed the Treaty of Paris ending the American Revolutionary War and acknowledging the United States as an independent nation.
