I. Gagik (Ermenice: Գագիկ Ա Արծրունի; 879/880 - 943) güney Ermenistan'da Vasburagan Krallığı'nın önce Kuzeybatı Vasburagan prensi (III. Gagik , 904–908) ve sonra ölümüne kadar kral olarak Artsruni hükümdarı, ayrıca Bagratuni soyundan Ermeni kralı unvanı üzerinde hak iddia etmiştir.
Elsewhere in the text, however, we find references to his son Gagik as patron: “We, in accordance with your command, Gagik, commander of Armenia and prince of Vaspurakan, have attempted to convey in abbreviated form the stories of the past.”14 Gagik is also addressed as “valiant lover of words,” although it is telling that he is never addressed as king, a title he secured in 908.15 ...
In 908, soon after the establishment of the Bagratids’ royal dynasty, Gagik Arcruni was crowned as king of Vaspurakan.6 It is noteworthy that the historians of the Arcruni family call Gagik “king of all Armenia”7 rather than king of Vaspurakan, revealing his greater royal ambitions.
