On 14th April 2024, more than 40 watercolours painted by Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna (1882-1960), will go under the hammer at an auction in Moscow. This is the second largest group of Grand Duchess Olga’s works in Russia, the first being the group of 180 watercolours recently gifted to the State Russian Museum in St. Petersbu.
Her father was the son of Grand Duke Alexander Mikhailovich of Russia, who belonged to a cadet branch of the Romanovs, and his wife Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna, Tsar Nicholas II's sister. On his mother Olga has been associated with virtually all the Royal families of Europe. Together with his brothers and sister, she received an excellent education.
