20 de may. de 2024 · Mary married her half-cousin, Henry Stuart, Lord Darnley, in 1565, and in 1566, they had a son, James. After Darnley orchestrated the murder of Mary's Italian secretary and close friend, David Rizzio, their marriage soured. In February 1567, Darnley's residence was destroyed by an explosion, and he was found murdered in the nearby garden.

15 de may. de 2024 · Mary, Queen of Scots, had a complex love life, which included three marriages. Her first husband was Francis, the King of France, who she married from 1558 to 1560. After Francis’s death, Mary married Lord Darnley, her second husband, from 1565 to 1567. Lastly, she wed the Earl of Bothwell from 1567 to 1578.

In this lecture, Dr Steven Veerapen reviews the events leading up to the 10th February 1567, the explosion at Kirk o’ Field which cost Darnley his life (along with several servants), and the aftermath.
