The Ascanians are named after Ascania (or Ascaria) Castle, known as Schloss Askanien in German, which was located near and named after Aschersleben.

Hace 6 días · Lauenburg-Elbe is state's southernmost town. It was founded in 1182 by Bernard of the House of Ascania (1134-1212) - an ancestor of the Dukes of Lauenburg and Count of Anhalt and Ballenstedt in the period 1180-1212. The town was named after the Lowenborch Castle (built in 1182).
