Hace 4 días · Tuchet, Baron Audley.—John, son of Thomas Tuchet, (whose ancestors had long possessed a park and seat at Markeaton, near Derby,) by one of the coheiresses of Nicholas, Lord Audley, of Heleigh, became Baron Audley; his descendant, John, Lord Audley, sold this estate to the Mundy family, in the early part of the sixteenth century.
Hace 3 días · In consequence of the marriage of his father with the co-heiress of Martin, James Lord Audley inherited the baronies of Barnstaple and Dartington. Nicholas, Lord Audley, son of James, died without male issue, in 1389; his co-heiresses married Tuchet and Hilary, but by virtue of an entail, his Devonshire estates went to the crown.
Hace 1 día · Before Warwick could join them, the Yorkist army of 5,000 troops under Salisbury was ambushed by a Lancastrian force twice their size under James Tuchet, 5th Baron Audley at Blore Heath on 23 September 1459. The Lancastrian army was defeated, and Baron Audley himself killed in the fighting.
