Nicholas, Lord Audley, son of James, died without male issue, in 1389; his co-heiresses married Tuchet and Hilary, but by virtue of an entail, his Devonshire estates went to the crown.

The Lancastrian army was defeated, and Baron Audley himself killed in the fighting.
