6 de may. de 2024 · El resultado fue que Juan Hunyadi, regente de Hungría, invadió Valaquia en los años 1442 y 1443 para instalar en el trono a otros voivodas más fiables, mientras que en 1444 el sultán Murad II le tendió una emboscada y lo forzó a dejar como rehenes a sus dos hijos menores: Vlad Draculea y Radu el Hermoso.
Vlad II, en efecto, había establecido con los turcos una alianza que le valió la enemistad del regente de Hungría, Juan Hunyadi, de origen valaco. En 1447 éste preparó una ofensiva contra Vlad, apoyándose en los boyardos valacos, nobles pro húngaros. El resultado fue la muerte del voivoda y de su hijo Mircea.

23 de may. de 2024 · Army of 25 000 – 30 000 men, fielded at Mohacs, was not much smaller than armies of John Hunyadi, though it was only half the size of largest armies led by Matthias Corvinus. This army however displayed clear lack of tactical sophistication which had characterized armies of John Hunyadi and Matthias Corvinus.

Defence of the kingdom remained on shoulders of John Hunyadi, cardinal Juan Carvajal and John of Capistrano, who had to organize and finance defence with their own resources.
