14 de jun. de 2024 · Louis Gossett Jr., a beloved actor known for his roles in films such as “An Officer and a Gentleman” and the groundbreaking miniseries “Roots,” has passed away at the age of 87. Gossett made history as the first Black man to win an Academy Award for a supporting role in 1983 and also won an Emmy for his performance in “Roots.”

Gossett’s win for Best Supporting Actor made him the first Black man to earn an Academy Awards in that category.
