Se casaría una tercera vez, en 1579, con Margarita Gonzaga. Es este enlace el que Cervantes toma como referencia para describir las celebraciones del desposorio entre Alfonso y Cornelia.

The Gonzaga Family dominated the city for long time (about 400 years) and therefore put their stamp on most of the city.

Mantua g rew into one of the major art and culture hubs of the Renaissance. The city attracted famous artists like Leon Battista Alberti, Andrea Mantegna, and Giulio Romano.
