It was designed by Sir John Vanbrugh and is regarded as the finest example of truly Baroque architecture in Great Britain.

15 de may. de 2024 · The main house, called Marlborough House in 1683, was rebuilt over 30–40 years by Charles, duke of Somerset (d. 1748). In 1684 he commissioned John Deane of Reading to design a new house. The old house was apparently demolished and work begun on the new one in 1688. Work greatly accelerated in the later 1690s.
