13 de may. de 2024 · Mstislav the Bold formed an alliance of the Rus' princes including Mstislav III of Kiev. The combined Rus' army defeated the Mongol rearguard at first. The Rus' pursued the Mongols, who were in a feigned retreat, for several days, which spread out their armies.
While the Rus army, defeated the Mongol rearguard at first, they were drawn into a false retreat to the banks of the Kalka River, where they were encircled and attacked. While Mstislav III of Kiev was captured and executed, Mstislav the Bold escaped. It was a major loss for the Rus coalition, with almost 80% of their forces wiped out.
