Autour de la place carrée plantée de tilleuls centenaires, on peut voir la sous-préfecture, un monument de reconnaissance à Notre-Dame de Bayeux. Le buste de Charlemagne Jean-Delamare, situé dans le jardin public.

Elle est surmontée d’une statue représentant Poppa, fille du comte Béranger de Bayeux et épouse du chef viking Rollon, premier duc de Normandie. Implantation et architecture. Il était implanté dans l’angle sud-ouest de l’enceinte fortifiée de la ville (voir ci dessous).
