Hace 2 días · When Emanuel Scrope Earl of Sunderland died in 1630 his estates were divided among his illegitimate children, and the manor of Caldwell came to Earl Rivers and his wife. (fn. 71) Afterwards, however, it passed to the descendants of Mary eldest daughter of Emanuel Lord Scrope, who was married to Charles Duke of Bolton.

Hace 5 días · It was built in 1604 by Emanuel Scrope, afterwards Lord Scrope of Bolton and Earl of Sunderland, but was altered, restored and added to in the 19th century. The old part retains some of its original features. In the hall is some mid17th-century panelling brought from a neighbouring farm-house.
