Hace 6 días · Captain The Hon. Fergus Bowes-Lyon (copyright unknown). On 19 August 1914, he joined the 8th Battalion, Black Watch as a lieutenant. On 17 September, he married Lady Christian Norah Dawson-Damer and was promoted to temporary captain on 17 November that same year.
21 de may. de 2024 · Her brother, Captain Fergus Bowes-Lyon, however, who had been an officer in the Black Watch, or Royal Highlanders Regiment, was killed in 1915. On her way to be married at Westminster Abbey, she made a stop at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior, where she left her bouquet in memory of her brother.

There was an extra reason for Claude Bowes-Lyon to get a peerage as well: members of the Peerage of Scotland did not automatically sit in the House of Lords, but sent Representative peers instead. This way he could sit in the House of Lords as an Earl.
