A columnist, Sidney Skolsky, used it in a 1934 article discussing Katharine Hepburn’s first best actress win, and maintained that this was the first instance of the nickname.

He was a band leader of the time, but I've never heard of him. His name was Harmon Oscar Nelson. Thank goodness she didn't call me Harmon if she's to be believed.

A quick peek at the back view of that statue is a bit disappointing, though. It looks rather clenched.
