7 de jun. de 2024 · Sir Herbert Baker KCIE FRIBA RA was a British architect and designer. Born on the 9th June, 1862, Baker had an influential career as an architect in South Africa and India. In 1917 he was invited by CWGC Sir Fabian Ware to visit the battlefield cemeteries of the First World War with a view to advising on the ‘general architectural treatment’.

12 de jun. de 2024 · In 1925 Sir Herbert Baker carried out alterations, fitting up the library, and building a conference hall at the back. The demolition of the house was proposed in 1957, but a Building Preservation Order was placed on it and on No. 9 (see above) and confirmed in 1959.
