They filed for divorce in 1974. In June 1977, Lynch married Mary Fisk, and the couple had one child, Austin Jack Lynch, born in 1982.

Lynch's cowriter, Kent Harper, is also in the movie as the cop Jack Bennett; he's one of the 3 witnesses to the Incident which the police are trying to unravel. His character is not a likable guy, but he is a good spectacle for the screen.
