Hace 3 días · Leyton, the 'tun' on the river Lea, lies about 5 miles north-east of London between the river and Epping Forest. It is part of the London borough of Waltham Forest. (fn. 1) It is mainly a dormitory suburb of small houses built between 1870 and 1910, interspersed with modern block and tower housing.

It was enlarged in 1934–5 and again in 1957. (fn. 89) Tom Hood secondary technical (commercial) school.

24 de may. de 2024 · The BOURNE estate in Leytonstone was created by Robert Harrington of Leytonstone, a native of Witham-on-the-Hill (Lincs.), who, by will proved 1657, left all his lands in Leyton to the poor of Bourne (Lincs.). The copyhold lands, in the manor of Ruckholt, had been surrendered to the use of his will in 1650.
