Hace 1 día · Alfred the Great (also spelled Ælfred; c.849 – 26 October 899) was King of the West Saxons from 871 to 886, and King of the Anglo-Saxons from 886 until his death in 899. He was the youngest son of King Æthelwulf and his first wife Osburh, who both died when Alfred was young.

Hace 4 días · Æthelwulf king of the West Saxons granted a 5-hide estate at Minety to Malmesbury abbey, probably in the late 830s. The grant was confirmed in 855. By c. 1199 Malmesbury abbey also possessed the right of patronage to Minety church. In 1270 the abbot and convent surrendered the estate to the bishops of Salisbury.
