When I was a teenager, I picked up a paperback copy of Night in the Lonesome October by Roger Zelazny (best known for his fantasy multiverse hopping Chronicles of Amber) from my library. I really liked it but did not realize at the time that it was set in Lovecraft’s universe.

First published in 1993, it was Zelazny's last book prior to his untimely death. Many consider it the best of the fantasy master's novels.

  3. I'd pick the dinner party in "Night in the lonesome October." You get our surly and creepy protagonist Ed, who has already established himself as a toucher and is in a foul mood over the presence of Kirkus.

  4. 14 de may. de 2024 · But it’s been a long time since I read any of Roger Zelasny’s work. The one exception is A Night in the Lonesome October. That’s the one told from the point of view of Jack the Ripper’s dog. I’ve read that one more than once. It’s great. I never had the chance to meet him. And you don’t see his books in bookstores any more.
