8 de may. de 2024 · Albert I was the first Duke of Prussia, reigning in that capacity for more than four decades in the 15th Century. He was born on May 17, 1490, in Ansbach, in Franconia. His father was Margrave Frederick I of Brandenburg-Ansbach, and his mother was Sophia of Poland.
13 de may. de 2024 · Albert was the third son of Frederick of Hohenzollern, margrave of Ansbach-Bayreuth. In 1510 Albert was named grand master of the Teutonic Order and thus lord of East Prussia, which the order held under Polish suzerainty. A quarrel with the Poles, however, resulted in a war with Poland (1519–21) that caused considerable damage to East Prussia.
