Hace 3 días · As military historian Basil Liddell Hart notes in his book "The German Generals Talk," the Rhineland was "the key to the whole German position in the west" (Liddell Hart, 1948, p. 54). Its remilitarization would allow Germany to establish a strong defensive line along the Rhine River, making it much more difficult for France or other Allied powers to launch an attack on German soil.
