Although he lived during the rise of Impressionism his training was classical…that of the 1700’s. Classically composed, idealized landscapes were the only acceptable works if one sought acceptance and recognition from the French Salon shows of the day.

After 1865, Corot created a series of six paintings on the theme of the model in the studio.

Hace 4 días · Corot fue uno de los fundadores de la Escuela de Barbizon, junto a un grupo de pintores que darán vida y sentido al Plein Air. Este grupo de paisajistas hizo de Barbizon y del Bosque Fountainebleau el escenario perfecto para desarrollar la pintura al natural, ya no se bocetaba para luego pintar en el estudio, sino que se comenzaba y terminaba la obra en “plein air”, al aire libre.
