Along with Welsh and Breton, Cornish is descended from the Common Brittonic language spoken throughout much of Great Britain before the English language came to dominate.

Brythonic is the name given to the language spoken in mainland Britain at the time of the Romans and seems to have been closely related to continental Gaulish, with which it shared a common ancestor.
Hace 6 días · Cornish is the historical language of Cornwall. It is a Celtic language of the Brythonic branch, along with Welsh and Breton. According to the 2011 census, Cornish is spoken by about 500 people in Cornwall. Very few, if any, of them have Cornish as their mother tongue, as the language ceased to be used as a community language in the 18th century.
