The Republic of Halych, a short-lived state. 1900s. Halych is the Ukrainian name for Galicia, it stems from the town of Halych which was the capital of the old Kingdom of Galicia-Volhynia, or Ruthenia, preceded by the Principality of Halych.

Mstislav the Bold formed an alliance of the Rus' princes including Mstislav III of Kiev. The combined Rus' army defeated the Mongol rearguard at first.

They were under the joint command of Mstislav the Bold and Mstislav III of Kiev.
