  3. Hace 4 días · The Gate House, of which we have spoken in the preceding chapter as opening into Dean's Yard, adjoined the Almonry, and was once the principal approach to the Monastery itself. It stood at the western entrance of Tothill Street, and dated from the time of Edward III.

Until at least 1769 some part of the Dean Street frontage of the Soho Square property was probably not built upon, although Rocque's map of 1746 indicates a 'Venetian' chapel fronting on to this part of Dean Street (Plate 4).
