Hace 2 días · In 1086 Christine, sister of Edgar Atheling, took the veil at Romsey, as stated in the Saxon chronicle, and became abbess. To the same retreat Christine was followed by her young niece Maud, but she did not take the vows, and became the Queen of Henry I., being married at Martinmas, 1100. (fn. 4)

21 de may. de 2024 · ARLEY was assessed at only 1 hide in 1086, when it was held by Cristine, sister of Edgar Atheling. With her other Warwickshire estates it came into the possession of Ralph de Limesi; Dugdale suggests, without proof, that he became her husband.
Basically, there are documents from the mid 1100s that list an Edgar Atheling as a witness (very common for local notables to be witnesses for documents back then). The writer points it out that it is unlikely to be Edgar because he would be over 90 at that point.
