In 1612 Edward Seymour secured a release of the manor from Edward Willoughby, great great grandson of Lord Willoughby de Broke, later unsuccessfully contested by his younger brothers.

On Somerset's execution and attainder in 1552 Tidcombe manor passed by Act to his son Sir Edward Seymour (cr. earl of Hertford 1559, d. 1621), a minor.
