Hace 2 días · Sir Edward Seymour, the sixth baronet, grandson of the last-mentioned Sir Edward, upon the death of Algernon, Duke of Somerset, in 1750, succeeded to the titles of Baron Seymour and Duke of Somerset, and was grandfather of the present Duke who occasionally resides at Berry Pomeroy.
Hace 6 días · In 1511 it was recovered by the Crown and was granted, as the lordship and manor of North Petherton, in 1547 to Edward Seymour, duke of Somerset. Following Somerset's attainder it was granted in 1553 to John Dudley, duke of Northumberland.
Hace 2 días · William Seymour, duke of Somerset (d. 1660), grandson and heir of Edward, gave his three daughters Frances (d. 1681), Mary (d. 1673), and Jane (d. 1679) an interest in the manor, possibly in 1653.
Hace 2 días · In 1582 his heir, Edward Seymour, earl of Hertford (d. 1621), recovered the estate, which passed to Anne, known as Lady Beauchamp, the widow of his eldest grandson Edward Seymour. Anne married secondly Edward Lewis and was still alive in 1662.
