24 de may. de 2024 · Edward VIII, prince of Wales (1911–36) and king of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and emperor of India from January 20 to December 10, 1936, when he abdicated to marry Wallis Warfield Simpson. Edward VIII was the only British sovereign to voluntarily resign the crown.

All the monarchs from William I to Charles I wore classic crowns, while Charles II-George IV wore wreath crowns. Edward VII, George V and George VI wore crowns on their colonial currency. Edward VIII was never on circulating currency, and Charles III is crowned on his coronation coinage.
