9 de may. de 2024 · In 1733 Edward Walpole, second son of Sir Robert, had introduced Henry Legge to his father, prompting a letter from Dartmouth thanking him for his kindness. Legge became secretary to Walpole in 1736, in his capacity as chancellor of the exchequer.
Hace 6 días · A draft or copy of an assignment of the house, dated 1738, from Ripley to Sir Robert Walpole survives at the Public Record Office. (fn. 4) Sir Edward Walpole occupied the house until about 1778, when he was succeeded by his natural daughter Laura, widow of the Hon. Frederick Keppel, bishop of Exeter.
16 de may. de 2024 · In the 34th of Edward I. Isabella de Walpole was found to be one of the cousins and heirs of Roger Fitz-Peter Fitz-Osbert, and John son of Alice Negoun, was the other; she was afterwards (as it seems) the wife of Sir Walter Jernegan.
17 de may. de 2024 · This John was brother of Robert Walpole, Esq. of Houghton in Norfolk, and father of Sir Edward Walpole, Knt. of the Bath, who inherited it as heir to his uncle John; and in this family it remains, the Earl of Orford being lord.
