6 de may. de 2024 · After Queen Maria II died, Ferdinand married Elise Hensler in 1869. Elise was a Swiss-born opera singer who moved to the USA and was a huge lover of culture and the arts. Ferdinand fell in love with her after seeing her perform at the São Carlos National Theatre in Lisbon.

The two married in 1869, against everything and everyone, so this place is also a direct testimony to this love. A magical haven waiting to be (re)discovered!

Fernando de Saxe-Coburgo-Gota-Koháry, que se conheceram quando Elise interpretou no Teatro Nacional São Carlos, em 1861, o papel do pajem Óscar, da ópera de Verdi “Um Baile de Máscaras”.
