31 de may. de 2024 · The Earl of Suffolk died here in 1626, when the property passed to his son Theophilus, second Earl of Suffolk, and then to his grandson James, third Earl of Suffolk, whose sister, the Lady Elizabeth Howard, married, in 1642, Algernon Percy, Earl of Northumberland.
Hace 6 días · In 1642, Lady Elizabeth Howard, second daughter of Theophilus, married Algernon Percy, 10th Earl of Northumberland, and by her marriage settlement Suffolk House "was transferred to the bridegroom, upon his payment of £15,000 to his wife's family." Thenceforth it was usually referred to as Northumberland House.

These revolts were usually led by the Earls of Northumberland, the Percy family. Shakespeare makes one of the Percys, the dashing Harry Hotspur (1364–1403), the hero of his Henry IV, Part 1.
