Hace 5 días · Stanhope, Earl of Chesterfield:— The Stanhope family were originally of the County of Durham : they came into Nottinghamshire in the reign of Edward III., in consequence of a marriage with the heiress of Maulovel. Sir Michael Stanhope had grants of abbey lands in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
