The grand duchy originally formed from the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt in 1806 as the Grand Duchy of Hesse (German: Großherzogtum Hessen ).

23 de may. de 2024 · German energy group RWE AG ( ETR:RWE) has been awarded a contract by forest manager HessenForst to build a wind farm with a capacity of 33 MW in the state of Hesse. The wind farm will consist of five turbines erected on two sites in the municipality of Burghaun in the Hessian state forest, RWE said.
