Arms: Argent on a cross gules five escallops or (Villiers) with an escutcheon of pretence of Herne. Judith, daughter and heir of Frederick Herne married William Villiers, second Earl of Jersey at Hampstead on 22 March 1704/5.

From its foundation, the Société actively encouraged the use of photography in achieving its aims, resulting in the natural accrual of photographic materials.
