Castillo construido en 1385 para defender a la familia de los Este, conserva la estructura tipica de la fortaleza medieval, los balcones de marmol y las terrazas nos recuerdan el periodo en el que el edificio se convirtió en residencia de la Corte Ducal en el siglo XVI.
20 de may. de 2024 · In 1741, the allied army of 40,000 Spaniards and Neapolitans under the command of the Duke of Montemar had advanced towards Modena, Francesco III d'Este, Duke of Modena had allied himself with them, but the vigilant Austrian commander, Count Otto Ferdinand von Traun had out-marched them, captured Modena and forced the Duke to make a separate peace.

In Ferrara in 1385, a dangerous revolt convinced Niccolò II d’Este of the need to erect mighty defences for himself and his family thus the Castello di San Michele was built, a fortress erected against the people. Its imposing proportions, its moat, its drawbridges and its towers date back to that remote period.

6 de may. de 2024 · Isabel di Savoia was born on 11 March 1591. She was the daughter of Carlo Emanuele I, Duca di Savoia and Catalina Micaela von Habsburg. She married Alfonso III d'Este, Duca di Modena, son of Cesar d'Este, Duca di Modena and Virginia de Medici, on 22 February 1608. She died on 28 August 1626 at age 35.
